Inclusive Care and Protection for Children Affected/infected by AIDS (CABA) and Children with Disabilities (CWDs) through Empowerment and System Strengthening (ICP).

Goal

All girls and boys particularly children with disabilities (CWDs) and children affected by AIDS (CABA) in 20 targeted communities live free from all forms of violence and are better protected through strengthened local community systems and family care

Conduct training for Children with Disabilities (CWDs) and also for their parents/caregivers on resilience building.

Current Situation
(Up to June, 2019)

So far 150 children were trained through 10 groups and 150 parents/caregivers were given 10 groups.

Targeted girls and boys including CWDs and CABA in chosen communities are better protected through improved family care and aware of local child protection response mechanisms.

Conduct Positive discipline in everyday parenting (PDEP) sessions for the parents/caregivers & follow up.

165 Parents/Caregiver have been trained through 11 groups to promote Positive discipline in everyday parenting (PDEP).

A total of 116 children affected or infected by HIV / AIDS (CABA) children have been trained in this regard through 6 teams and also their 107 parents / caregiver also have been trained in this regard through 6 teams.

Community sensitization meetings have been completed with 467 local religious leaders and influential people from 23 different areas of the total working area.

Meeting has been completed with a total of 300 teachers and School Management Committee persons from 20 different areas of the total work area about reduce stigma and discrimination faced by CABA and CWDs.

10 Community based child protection committee (CBCPCs) has been established with 110 influential people of their own community (women councilor of Upazila Parishad or city corporation, Women and Children Affairs Officer, Social service Affairs Officer, Teacher, Religious leaders, Journalist, Social worker, NGO representative, Lawyer) on three thanas of City Corporation’s and five upazilas under Dhaka district.

Capacity of CBCPC’s strengthened to prevent and respond to violence, stigma and discrimination faced by children.

The most vulnerable children are identified through this program. After risk assessment it sent to the concerned public or private service institution for the mitigation of the risk.

Conduct training for Social Welfare staff at local level on supporting CABA and CWDs.

Current Situation
(Up to June, 2019)

This program is being implemented so that the social welfare staff can efficiently deliver their services to the children of the project. Till now this training has been provided among the social welfare workers of 5 upazilas under Dhaka district.

Increased capacity and skills of service provider’s in delivering quality services for CABA and CWDs.

Facilitate birth registration camp, Immunization camp & Provision of therapeutic and psychosocial support for CABA and CWDs.

Current Situation
(Up to June, 2019)

Attempts are being made to improve the living standards of children of different levels of the project through birth registration camps, vaccination camps and therapeutic and psychosocial support. Up to this time, 721 children have been provided such services, most of whom are Children’s with Disabilities (CWD) & children affected or infected by HIV / AIDS (CABA).

Collaboratively to respond and intervene to improve the protection, care and welfare of girls and boys at risk including CWD’s and CABA.
